Parents are pushing hard to open up schools here citing our low numbers. It’s ridiculous. School staff haven’t even gotten the first installment of the vaccine though I think the vaccine will give people a false sense of security and we’ll see them getting lax in their precautions. I am in no hurry to go back to in-person school. I know students are falling behind but this is a worldwide phenomenon. Colleges know this is coming up the pipeline to them.

I completely agree with you about the vaccine. I fear people will stop wearing masks after they have it, thinking that they're completely covered. I think once the regular folks start getting it we're going to have another huge surge. Like you, I'm in no hurry to get back to campus to work. I'm just fine at home and feel like it's safer for everyone that we're working like this right now.

I agree. I follow the @FacesOfCovid Twitter account - Alex Goldstein has been using the account to cover the stories of those who have died from Covid since April though I didn't discover it until late September. It's sometimes hard to read, but I think it's important to remember those who have died - and it helps personalize the tragedy (rather than it just being huge numbers. He publishes about 10 stories a day and I make it a point to respond to each one of them - it's heartbreaking and heartwarming when family members respond to my replies with their thanks that someone actually cares about their family member.

Anyway, my original point: last week's posts included a horrifying amount of teachers (from mid-20's up to late-60's). We should not be opening schools for in-person until our teachers and school staff can get vaccines. It's not worth it. It blows me away how many people don't take this seriously and don't seem to care how many people die from Covid.

If you liked that Bernie memes video, you should check out the other videos by them (The Holderness Family). I just wasted a good hour + on YouTube laughing and liking. They are hilarious - both their videos and their commentary at the end of all their videos. How did I not know about them before? So so good.

"Wash Your Hands" (to Taylor Swift's "The Man") and "Come On, Vaccine" (to "Come On Eileen) are both really good as is an oldie ("(It's such a pain learning) Algebra" to Toto's "Africa")
