Kudos to Dylan for alerting me to this awesomeness.
Well here we are…the last week in January…it feels like it should already be March with everything that’s happened in 2021 so far. But no, it’s still January.
I was hopeful that this was going to be a good week, that things were going to be positive and good, but then I saw a report that the California Governor is planning to end the stay at home order and let outdoor dining and other things reopen. I think it’s a terrible idea. The reason the numbers are doing down - slowly, might I add - is because things are closed, because we’re not out there doing things around other people. This is the only way to get through it.
I feel for those who aren’t able to work; I truly do. And I hate that businesses have closed or had to reduce their staffing. We need true stimulus relief for these individuals and businesses. In the long run, it’s better for everyone if we don’t re-open. If we re-open, more people will get sick, more will die, and then there are fewer people left to go to these businesses. Almost every other country has given its citizens monthly stimulus checks throughout the pandemic. I can’t comprehend why we can’t get it together.
Anyway, we’ll see if this report is true and what it really means. I suppose counties could still do their own thing, as ours did in the early months of this crisis. I don’t know. This just seems like a bad idea. I guess we’ll know more later today.
So much for an uplifting post…maybe tomorrow’s will be better…
Parents are pushing hard to open up schools here citing our low numbers. It’s ridiculous. School staff haven’t even gotten the first installment of the vaccine though I think the vaccine will give people a false sense of security and we’ll see them getting lax in their precautions. I am in no hurry to go back to in-person school. I know students are falling behind but this is a worldwide phenomenon. Colleges know this is coming up the pipeline to them.
I agree, i think it’s too soon. ☹️
