Video of the day:
How is it almost October?
I realized yesterday that fall TV is starting and wow, how is that possible? It’s literally October at the end of next week and I honestly have no idea where the year has gone. At this time last year I would have never guessed we’d still be watching the number of COVID infections and deaths rising. I would have never guessed we’d have vaccines that people wouldn’t take. I would have never guessed that asking someone to wear a mask to enter a store or restaurant would trigger someone to attack another person. It’s so many kinds of madness.
But enough about that…new TV!
I actually started watching a new show on Netflix over the weekend, Manifest. I’m not sure who recommended this one to me but THANK YOU!! I love it! I’m not quite through the first season (there are three so far and someone told me there’s a fourth coming) but oh my goodness, it’s so good!
There are a few new network shows I’m semi-interested in:
A new show started last night, Ordinary Joe, that looks super interesting. I recorded it and will watch later this week. Anyone watch it yet?
I’m kind of intrigued by the reboot of The Wonder Years. The original is one of the best shows ever, and as a general rule I don’t care for reboots, but this one has potential. And Dule Hill. Oh, and Don Cheadle as the narrator. I might need to check it.
I’ve set my DVR for a new singing reality show called Alter Ego which looks kinda cool. I’ll let you know how it is.
But mostly, more than anything, I’m looking forward to the return of The Masked Singer! It comes back with a two-hour premier this week and I am so excited! This has become one of my favorite shows and I can’t wait to see what the costumes look like and start guessing (probably badly) who the singers are.
What shows are y’all excited about?
One more show to talk about. We've recently started watching (finally) "Schitts Creek". Not sure why I never watched it when it was on originally, but had heard so many good things about it. We are both so glad we started watching it as it is so funny and the characters are so good: our favorites are Dan Levy (as David) and Emily Hampshire (as Stevie) but all the characters are so good. Every episode has us laughing while also connecting to the characters. If you haven't seen it yet, it's streaming on Netflix and we (Philip and I) both highly recommend it.
RE: New Shows. I was kind of intrigued by Ordinary Joe but I'm kind of burnt out on new shows from NBC after what they did to Manifest and Good Girls. Let me know what you think - we may end up watching it if you give it a green light.
I too am interested in The Wonder Years. I loved the original and was very excited to see that Dule Hill and Don Cheadle will be in this one. I'm excited to see it.
None of the other new shows intrigued us. The returning shows I'm most excited about are
"A Million Little Things" (one of our favorite shows; it doesn't hurt that it stars David Giuntoli (Grimm) and James Roday (Psych);
"This is Us" (of course);
"Big Sky" (love this show, another must see same day);
"The Rookie" (how can you go wrong with Nathan FIllion?; plus they had some good story lines about policing issues like racism last season);
and "The Equalizer" - Queen Latifah is SO SO good in this
