When that one movie comes on…

You know the one. The one you saw three times in the theatre. You also own the DVD and you can recite at least half of the script from memory. It’s also on at least two of your movie/streaming networks. So basically you could watch it whenever you want from start to finish without any interruption. And yet…when you come across it on TV, edited for length and content, you can’t help but sit and watch it. Sure there are commercials, and yeah, they bleeped that one word, but still, it’s the movie and you love it.

I have several of these movies and my song of the day today is from one of them, A Walk to Remember. It doesn’t matter which part of the movie I come in on, and it doesn’t matter that I know what’s next and how it’s going to end. It demands to be watched and so I oblige and let myself get sucked all the way in. Do I own it on DVD? Of course I do. I may even own the book. But there’s something about it unexpectedly being there that makes me watch, that makes me remember when I watched it the first time, that makes me play the soundtrack for days afterward.

What about you? Do you have any movies like this?

It’s the same with certain episodes of TV shows. I may have seen the episode 127 times but I will sit through it again and again, even if it makes me cry every single time. I won’t list them here as there are far too many, but I’m curious if anyone else has certain episodes of TV shows that make them sit and watch no matter what.

Anyway, I guess I was wondering if it was just me.
