Thoughts for the day:
Today’s song is one of my favorites…an oldie but a goodie, some might say. I love these lyrics:
Bring your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
And also these:
Fragile fingers sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
I believe we need this now more than ever. We need peace. The hungry need to be fed. We need to be saved from ourselves.
Imagine what it would be like to welcome Jesus to today’s world, to today’s United States of America. I mean clearly He knows exactly what’s going on down here but I truly wonder how He would be received if he just showed up one day, if he wandered onto our streets, into our houses, into our churches…would we welcome Him?
His ideas are pretty radical. Could we handle it? Love your neighbor, don’t covet, don’t put others above Him, sell your possessions and follow Him, and so on. None of these are as simple as they sound, are they? That last one, in fact, is hard to even imagine. But that’s what He asks, and most of us who have chosen to follow Him spend our entire lives working on how to do it well. We fail day after day but thank goodness He forgives us and we can start over again.
Anyway…just a few things I’m thinking about this morning…enjoy your day!
