Song of the day:
Wayback Wednesday
Dishwalla’s album Opaline was released in April of 2002, which seems impossible right now…twenty years ago?! Wow. I absolutely adore this album and while I like a few other Dishwalla songs from other albums none of them compare for me. This album is the one. But I almost hated it before ever hearing the whole thing.
I guess it was sometime in 2002, somewhere after the release of this album, that my friend Travis and I were sitting in an empty movie theatre waiting for the previews to start. This song came on and we both kinda liked it. And then it repeated, which was weird but we figured it was just a random thing. But then it repeated again. And again. And I don’t even know how many times we heard it but it was comical. We had no idea who it was, and this was long before Shazam so I had to actually search it out based on the lyrics I remembered, which I’d jotted down on what was probably my Palm Pilot at the time. I found it later that night and bought us both a copy of the album because I felt it was only right that we have it as a memento of the night. It’s still one of my favorites.
I saw Dishwalla live in concert one time at a random radio event, so not even a real show, but at least I can say I saw them. Their lead singer left the band a few years after this was released, and we actually follow each other on Twitter which is super random.
Anyway, that’s my Wayback Wednesday story for the day. Hope your day is great!
PS
Yes, it’s been two weeks since I’ve posted. I guess I sent myself on an unplanned hiatus. Maybe I had nothing to say. Maybe I was busy, tired, etc. Maybe it was a little bit of all of that. I’m back now but may not be posting every day…unless I feel like it. In which case, lucky you. :-)
Video of the day:
Can’t wait to see this!! Coming soon to theaters and Apple TV+.
I'm glad you took a little break. It's hard to post frequently and maintain quality. You always put out quality. The movie about Sidney Poitier looks crazy good!
