Song of the day:
Vaccines…
Yesterday I got my second booster shot, primarily because I’m traveling a bit in the next month but also because it was the right thing to do for me. As I was driving to the vaccination shot I started thinking about how many vaccines I’d received in the last year or so.
Four shots of the COVID-19 vaccine
Two shots of the Shingles vaccine
One shot of the flu vaccine
Yeah. That’s seven total. Thankfully the Singles vaccine isn’t an every year thing but the flu vaccine is, and I’m guessing at some point the COVID vaccine will become annual as well. I’m 100% okay with that. The flu vaccines work and so do those for COVID. So if I have to get a COVID vaccine every six months until they figure out the best way to do it annually, or it’s eradicated completely, I will do it.
Bonus of yesterday’s shot? Running into this guy…well, his cardboard twin anyway…
And things…
I know the past few weeks I haven’t been posting as much, and I don’t have any other reason other than being busy with work. I’ve been staying up far too late and not finding time to post. I’m gonna try to be better but you might not always get five posts a week.
I realized I missed posting about the last book I read and the one I’m reading now. So here’s a little catch up on #FridayReads…
Savvy Sheldon Feels Good As Hell by Taj McCoy
I loved this book even though a couple of the, shall we say, more intimate scenes were a little more than I bargained for. That’s what skimming is for though, and the rest of the story was well worth it. Savvy is fun and sassy and experiences a rebirth of her personal and work lives. She’s smart and talented, has amazing friends, and is a fun character to get to know.
I met Taj at a book event just before the pandemic and have connected with her on Twitter, which is how I knew this book existed. She’s a fantastic writer and I can’t wait to read what’s next for her.
Here’s what I’m currently reading:
Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos
This book came out a few years back but I never got to it. I finally picked up a used copy a few years ago because it kept crossing my path. So far it’s okay. It started a bit slow for me, and there was a lot of non-dialogue writing, which isn’t necessarily bad, but I needed the characters to start talking or I’d lose my mind. As I’ve gotten deeper in it’s hooked me. I’m wholly invested in how it will end even though I’m still not in love with the story.
Since buying this book I’ve learned that there are three others in the series. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to read them or not. I’ll see how this ends. I’m excited to finish though because I have what I know is going to be a great book waiting in the wings. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what it is just yet. As soon as I can though I’ll fill you in and encourage you all to get your own copy.
What are you reading right now?

It’s from sometime last year; not a big deal, just thought I’d let you know that
I’m sad that Andrew has never seen Phantom of the Opera; I feel like everyone should see that on stage at least once
I mean of COURSE Into the Woods is referenced; of course it is
And finally, how do you not love The Sound of Music?! Disappointing…
