Song of the day:
Video of the day:
Today is my Friday, or as I like to call it, Vacation Eve. I was supposed to go visit my dad but you know, COVID, so I’m taking a short staycation and am definitely looking forward it. I’ll also be taking a vacation from this blog/newsletter, unless something amazing happens during my time off, which is unlikely but you never know.
It will be nice to have a few days away from work, but I do have a lot of things I hope to get done while I’m off. I’ve got a book to finish and many more to start, I’ve got two spa appointments, and am hoping to buy a new mattress and also find a small storage unit where I can deposit the ever-growing number of boxes in my house. I need to go through them but it’s overwhelming when they’re all just sitting here. So, I’m going to get them all out, rearrange some things, then bring them back one by one to go through them. We’ll see how it goes.
The best part of my time off though comes Tuesday night, August 10. I’ll be driving to San Francisco for the first time since March 2020 to partake in the reopening of Hamilton. I am nervous and excited and feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to arrive.
As many of you know, I was supposed to see Hamilton on Broadway on March 15, 2020, but COVID ended that plan. Even though I know closing Broadway that weekend was the right thing to do, and even though I’m extremely glad I didn’t end up venturing into Manhattan that weekend - where I undoubtedly would have been exposed to the virus - I’ve been disappointed ever since. Being able to see the show in the place where I last saw it before the world shut down, almost makes up for missing it in New York.
I’m thrilled that the Orpheum is requiring vaccinations or negative COVID tests to enter the theatre. I’m equally thrilled that masks are required to be worn unless eating or drinking, and y’all, this theatre is not messing around: “Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted for eating or drinking—masks must be worn between bites and sips.” This pleases me greatly. Also, I have a swanky new Hamilton mask that I can’t wait to wear.
So, that’s what’s happening over here. I’d better wrap this up and get ready for my last day of work for a few days. Have a great day, everyone…and a great weekend. I’ll see you soon.
