Song of the day:
TV Tuesday
I started watching the Apple TV+ series We Crashed a week or so ago but haven’t found the energy to get back to it. The show stars Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway, and the acting from both is good, but honestly, it’s kind of a boring story. I’m sure I’ll finish it at some point, maybe after all the episodes are posted and I can get it done in one sitting. Has anyone else watched it?
I recorded Season 14 of Heartland since it’s apparently never coming to Netflix, and I’m about halfway through. I think I posted about the show at some point last year when I started binge-watching the first 13 seasons. It’s basically a soap opera set on a horse ranch in Canada. So far this season we’ve had an unexpected death, the person closest to them seeing them as a ghost of some sort, a train derailment, a potentially lethal fire from said derailment, and bad press about the new mayor who had zero experience coming into the job. The horses are hands down the best part of this show. And still, I watch. Season 15 is already playing in Canada so I guess I’ll be finding that to watch at some point in the near future.
I’m excited about the new Disney+ Marvel show that starts this week, Moon Knight. I don’t know anything about the character but it’s getting a lot of good buzz and I’m excited to dig into it. They’ve done well with their other Marvel shows so I expect good things. I feel like you can’t go wrong with Oscar Issac and Ethan Hawk. Anyone else planning to watch?
Video of the day:
I haven't watched much streaming stuff lately because all our regular shows started airing again right after the Olympics (A Million Little Things; Big Sky; The Blacklist; The Equalizer (love Queen Latifah in this); NCIS; New Amsterdam; Superman & Lois; The Walking Dead; and This is Us).
That said, there have been a couple new shows I've gotten into lately:
- The Endgame - I tend to like psychological thrillers like this, so this has been good so far. The cat-and-mouse game has kept my interest
- Grand Crew - I am simply loving this show. The characters are intriguing, funny, and have great chemistry with each other. I would highly recommend this show
- Naomi - I am really liking this intriguing take on the superhero genre. The facts that Ava DuVernay is the director and that it's set in Oregon (the fictional town of Port Oswego) are great bonuses. In the Superhero genre, I am also loving Superman & Lois (now in its 2nd season). This is my favorite version of Superman (movie or TV) and I love how his relationship with Lois and his kids are really fleshed out.
I am also excited for the new season of Atlanta (it's been a long wait for season 3) and for Moon Knight. I am completely unfamiliar with the character of Moon Knight but the show looks intriguing and I have enjoyed all the Marvel shows on Disney+.
Last but not least, the awesome show The Orville is supposed to return in June, following an extremely long hiatus (caused by the switch from Fox to Hulu and the pandemic). Seth MacFarlane has created a very fun take-off on the Star Trek genre that works really well. I'm excited to see what the new season will bring.
