Song of the day:
TV Tuesday
One thing I’ve been trying NOT to watch is the news. I’ve read accounts of what’s happening on the other side of the world and seen clips on Twitter of the Ukrainian people being absolute heroes, but I can’t watch the news. It’s just too much. It’s heartbreaking and horrific. But the people who are fighting to defend their country are nothing short of inspiring. I wonder if we would do the same were we in that situation. I wonder if there’s a day in the not-so-distant future where we will be in that situation. And then I have to stop reading and lose myself in the fictional TV worlds of All American and Legends of Tomorrow, of Abbott Elementary and Kings of Napa and so many others. Here are a few things I checked out this weekend:
Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards - I recorded these since I was at the hockey game and knew all the winners before I watched but it was still fun to see the various reactions of the winners. I always enjoy this show because it’s no frills. There’s not much hoopla and it’s truly about the actors.
A Million Little Things - This show is in its fourth season, and it’s still finding ways to suck me in and make me feel all the things. There are a lot of intersecting storylines, and they tackle big issues all the time like suicide, alcoholism, divorce, assault and more. It’s overwhelming at times but there are a ton of great actors in it (and a phenomenally great dog), and I absolutely love it. Anyone else been watching this one?
All American/All American: Homecoming - All American is also in its fourth season, and it’s loosely based on a true story. It’s a teen show and is therefore filled with all kinds of angst and such but it also tackles some very real issues, especially concerning young Black people in America. I’ve been enjoying it since the beginning and am not completely sure where it’s headed after this season. Especially considering they laughed a spin-off show last week called All American: Homecoming. One of the characters from the original show heads to an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and it’s focused on her transition. There are a cast of mostly new characters all experiencing college and life away from home, and it definitely has potential but I’m not completely sold yet. We shall see.

If you have not seen Come From Away, I highly recommend you find time to either watch it on Apple TV+ or get tickets and see it in the theatre. It’s coming to San Jose in July…just FYI…
I love A Million Little Things!!! All the feels!!
