Welcome to October! Honestly, where did September go? It’s technically fall, but we’re still having 80 degree days (and higher) here. We did have a cooler day a week or so ago, and I actually wore a sweatshirt. It was nice. I’m not saying I’m ready for winter, mind you, but I’m shocked that it’s still this warm at the beginning of October. It sometimes snows in October, ya know?

I spent a lot of the last month building furniture, arranging all my stuff, hanging things on the walls, and, in my down time, building LEGO. Things are in good shape in the new place, though I still have a number of boxes to get to - stuff that’s been stored for years that I haven’t had time (or made time) to go through. Sounds like a good chore for a cold winter day…

Here are a few pics from the last few weeks…just to bring you a little more up to speed in case you don’t follow me on Insta or Threads…in summary: read some books, saw some movies, built some LEGO, saw some friends, ate some food, and dealt with the glass in our porch door shattering (still dealing with that actually - not yay).

Movies:

Inside Out 2 - I saw this when it came out back in June, but The Mother hadn’t so I was happy to go again. She loved it, and it was just as good as I remembered. It’s now streaming on Disney+ so if you haven’t seen it and you have that channel…now’s your chance.

Jung Kook: I Am Still - I saw this by myself as The Mother is not a member of BTS ARMY. It was a good documentary about the making and release of Jung Kook’s solo album, and was definitely worth the extra money it cost.

Transformers One - I saw this on my own as well, mostly because the previews kept making it look interesting. I tried to watch the live action Transformer movies when they first came out and couldn’t get through the first one, but this was fun! The animation was great, as was the story. It was filled with humor and adventure, and I hope they make another one!

The Wild Robot - The Mother and I saw this last week, and it was great! The animation was great, and the story was sweet and funny and quite moving. Highly recommend!

We’ve watched a bunch of movies at home, too, but I honestly don’t remember most of them. But one that I highly recommend is Will & Harper, a new documentary on Netflix that is so, so good. This film is, at its core, about a lifelong friendship. It’s sweet, funny, heartbreaking, and incredibly moving. I can’t recommend this enough.

We finished our binge of Ghosts, and are on the countdown for season four to start in a couple of weeks. I also decided to start a rewatch of all things Marvel including all the movies, the Netflix TV shows, and the Disney shows, and y’all - it’s a LOT. I put the list at the bottom of this post if you’re interested in joining the party - or if you want to see just how many Marvel things there are. Fair warning, it will likely hurt your head.

Now that it’s October, and I’ve got all the moving and unpacking things pretty much done, I have got to get myself on some sort of schedule. I have no idea what that looks like, mind you, but I can’t keep sitting in bed every morning playing on my phone for several hours or staying up until 2:00 a.m. doing who knows what (okay, building LEGO and watching Marvel). It’s time to figure out what this retired life is all about - and to get refocused on my writing.

I got my Nintendo Wii Fit set up in my office/den (yes, the Wii Fit is still a thing in my world), and I hope to get back to doing the yoga on there, as well as some of the other exercises. The Mother and I are also planning to get an indoor walking pad/small treadmill so that we can still walk when it’s too cold or gross outside.
