I hadn’t planned on being in Colorado for my mom’s birthday and Mother’s Day. I hadn’t planned on flying or driving anywhere or doing much of anything for quite some time. Yes, I’m fully vaccinated, but getting on a plane didn’t feel like something I was ready for. Still, when my mom let me know she needed to have a medical procedure done, I made the reservations, prayed for safety, and got on the plane.

The procedure went very well and of course now, we’re waiting for the results. But we feel good about things and are staying positive. Rather than just coming for a few days and turning around, I decided to stay for a couple of weeks. I’ll be doing some work while I’m here but also taking a few more days of vacation. It’s funny how it worked out for me to be here for my mom’s birthday and also Mother’s Day. I never dreamed I would get to see her this year, but I gotta say, even though flying was kinda stressful, and the Denver airport was an absolute zoo, getting to take this selfie was completely worth it. Also… YAY SCIENCE!! This trip could not have happened without the vaccines.

So, that’s what’s happening over here. I hope you’re enjoying the beginning of May, and I hope you’re all getting vaccinated when it’s your turn.

In other news, because of course, I had a run-in with a bed frame this morning and well…does this honestly surprise anyone?

I’m fine. It’s not deep. But yeah, it hurt. And it’s in the weirdest of places on my hand. But thankfully there were no trips to urgent care of the emergency room.
