Song of the day:
The halfway point
I can’t believe it’s July already. Where did the first six months of 2023 go? It feels like nothing but also a lot. I know I’ve personally had a lot going on, but it still doesn’t feel like it’s been six months. Is that just me? I took a quick glance at this website and a LOT has happened so far this year. Meanwhile, last week the United States Supreme Court took us back in time — and not in a good way — with its rulings. Sigh.
I had a nice vacation with The Mother last month, as she came out for about a week and a half. We enjoyed relaxing, eating, watching movies, eating, seeing a baseball game, eating, seeing friends…I think you get the point.
I hope you have been enjoying the summer months so far. The past few days here have been HOT, so I haven’t done much of anything except attempt to stay cool. This is a weird week because today is a work day but tomorrow’s a holiday and then we work the rest of the week. Midweek holidays are always bizarre. If I hadn’t taken a week off in June I would have thought about taking today off, but I only have a handful of meetings this morning and then an afternoon to actually get some work done so that will be nice.
I have no plans for tomorrow other than maybe cleaning my house and building two bedside tables I bought last month. The holiday feels tainted and not worth celebrating since a huge percentage of our population doesn’t experience the same freedoms as someone who looks like me. I have no interest in fireworks — especially since they’ve been going off in my neighborhood for days — and ate a hot dog at the Giants game two weeks ago. I’m good on hot dogs for another few years.
Anyway, that’s about all from this side of the internet. Enjoy your week, and I’ll be back soon.
