The Grammys
The Grammy Awards show last night was one of the best in recent memory. I honestly wasn’t sure I’d watch since most of the songs weren’t among my favorites. But the performances are always interesting so I set the DVR with a plan to fast forward through a lot of the show. But I found myself enjoying more of the performances than I expected to, and found the flow of the broadcast to be a good one.
Trevor Noah did a great job hosting the mostly outdoor show. There were a few performances held on an indoor stage for the artists only, and that was so cool. Watching artists enjoy the performances of other artists was fun. You don’t get to see that in such an intimate setting very often.
I still wish they handed out more of the awards during the live ceremony but I learned a long time ago that the broadcast isn’t so much about the awards, but about the performances. And there were some great performances last night. These are my favorites, linked to the YouTube video in case you didn’t get a chance to watch.
Bruno Mars & Anderson. Paak a.k.a. Silk Sonic - Leave the Door Open
and the one in today’s video of the day
I don’t listen to much of the music that was nominated, so I don’t know if the right people won or not. I’m sure there are arguments on all sides as to what was right and what was not. But I can say that I enjoyed the show, and that doesn’t happen every year. You can see all the winners here.
Hope you all survived the move to Daylight Saving Time. It’s always brutal but it’s nice to have the sunshine later in the day…still, that alarm goes off mighty early the first few mornings. Have a great day!
