Song of the day:
Video of the day:
On this day 20 years ago we all went about our days like normal. Some of us went to work, some went to school, some packed for a trip; it was normal. No one could have imagined how the next day would unfold; that almost 3,000 people would be killed, 25,000 more would be injured, and life as we knew it would change forever. No. September 10, 2001 was just a normal Monday in America.
I wanted to write about this today because we never know what tomorrow will bring. We aren’t promised that we will even be here for it. This is why it’s so important to live each day with purpose, to tell people you love them, to let the small stuff go, and to thank God for every day you’ve had until now. I know it’s easier said than done, and I write this more for myself than anyone else. Some days are just downright hard. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that things could get better - or worse. Some days we hang on just a little too tight. I think the most we can all do is try to be the best versions of ourselves every day. We can strive to be kind and helpful, supportive and encouraging. We can look for the good, even if the good is something as simple as the parking place next to the building being open when you get there. Or a chinchilla holding a sign.
I’ll share my thoughts and memories of that awful day 20 years ago tomorrow. I’ve shared them before, but I find it helpful to think about them and remind myself how precious this life we’re given is.
