Song of the day:
Thankful Thursday
Y’all, there is a lot going on in the world. Yesterday, a colleague passed away unexpectedly and it definitely put a damper on the day. Several friends have lost people in the last two weeks, we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic, and oh yeah, Russia invaded Ukraine.
These are scary and uncertain times, which makes it even more important to always find two or three things to be thankful for.
Today I’m thankful for:
A President who will stand up to Russia
Books and TV/movies that allow you to escape the real world for a bit
The knowledge that God is in control; not me, not President Biden, not President Putin, and not the former President either. Honestly, some days it’s all that gets me through.
Black History Month
The oldest Black female Greek-letter organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA), was founded at Howard University in 1908. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha), the first Black male Greek-letter organization, was founded in 1906 at Cornell University.
It’s estimated that around 100,000 enslaved people escaped to the North via the Underground Railroad from 1810 to 1850.
In July 1777, Vermont became the first colony to ban slavery.
Video of the day:
It feels like we needed a little Mister Rogers today…
“If you look for the helpers…you’ll know that there’s hope.”
Also a great time to know that God is in control and nothing gets past Him
