Thinking about where to eat breakfast or brunch this morning and couldn’t help but share this song. The clip is from the Netflix tick, tick… BOOM! movie, but the song was written by Jonathan Larson who would have celebrated his 63rd birthday yesterday. The world lost him way too soon, but his music lives on.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to wish me Happy Birthday yesterday. I truly have the best family and friends on the planet!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I spent a good portion of the day lounging and reading, which was glorious, but my evening was equally great. I had a delicious meal at Bond 45, including a yummy dessert that came with a sparkler and a song. As I started eating my dessert my server came by and let me know that a couple a few tables over had paid for my meal. WHAT?! To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. I mean y’all, this was not an inexpensive meal, and for these strangers to pay for it…well, it was unbelievable. I walked over to thank them and they were absolutely lovely. They were up from DC seeing a few shows so we chatted about what they’d seen, what I’d seen, and so forth and it truly reminded me that even when the world appears to be falling apart around us and hatred is running rampant, that there really are some absolutely amazing humans out there. This is truly one of the most special things that has ever happened to me, and I will never forget it.

Still floating on that high, I walked across the street and got in line at the Richard Rogers Theatre, something I’d hoped to do almost three years ago, and had been wanting to do even before that. Finally, FINALLY, I got to see Hamilton on Broadway. And it did not disappoint. My seat was perfect and the cast was amazing. As many times as I’ve seen this show, and as many different people as I’ve seen playing the various parts, it still never ceases to bring me joy. I love how every combination of cast members changes the show in little ways, and how everyone brings themselves to their character. I don’t know when I’ll see the show again but if that was the last time? So be it. It was the perfect way to end my birthday.

On today’s itinerary, we have the aforementioned breakfast or brunch I still haven’t mad a decision on then I’m seeing my final musical of the weekend, & Juliet. I don’t know much about it, but I know it uses pop music and looks pretty fun. My friend Kirsten saw it when she was out here a few weeks ago and said I will enjoy it. I’ll probably find a fun place for dinner afterward - since I’m seeing it at the matinee - then come back and watch my recording of the Grammys.
I hope you’re all having a great weekend and enjoying decent weather. It’s definitely warmer here today than the last two days - thank goodness! Maybe I won’t need 17 layers of clothes just to walk outside and hail a cab…
Until next time…
Wow, that is amazing that they picked up the check for your meal! You're such a generous person, and when you put generosity out into the world, it comes back to you in some form! What a perfect birthday!
