Song of the day:
Video of the day:
Space Jam
I watched the new Space Jam over the weekend and thought I’d share a few thoughts…
I fully understand that Space Jam: A New Legacy was not intended for me. I get it. It’s for this generation. The original Space Jam was for my generation. My generation - MJ; this generation, Lebron. We could debate all day who the greatest player was but anyone who chose Lebron would lose. 😁 Anyway…the graphics and animation were great and certainly improved from the original movie, but there’s something about the old school animation that I will always love.
Here’s what I enjoyed about the new movie:
The soundtrack
Don Cheadle playing a villain
The nods to the original movie
The tongue and cheek line about Lebron having no more teams to play for
Michael B. Jordan
The bottom line is, I’m not a Lebron fan, never have been. No, that’s not true. I loved him when he first came into the league, even saw him play live in his rookie year, but after “The Decision”, I was done. That was just way too much.
Here’s what I didn’t like about the new movie:
How at one point it was just a giant advertisement for Warner Brothers movies; product placement is one thing but this was waaaaaaaaaay over the top
The character of Lebron being kinda mean to his kid
The whole premise of Father vs Son
The 3D kind of animation of the Looney Toons…that just seemed wrong
The lack of Bill Murray
But at the end of the day, I enjoyed the movie enough to watch the whole thing. I also watched the original movie afterward and of course I still like it better. It’s Michael Jordan.
So, see the new movie, don’t see it…it’s up to you. There’s probably something in there you’ll enjoy, even if you’re not a fan of Lebron. Or, you could watch the original and be thoroughly entertained.
