Book of the Day:
Released today, Tasha Alexander’s 15th Lady Emily novel, The Dark Heart of Florence, is a great one. I had the opportunity to read this novel last fall and it’s definitely one of the best in this series. But don’t just take my word for it…
"Alexander effortlessly slips an enormous amount of Florentine history into a narrative that offers a loving portrait of the city and just the right amount of dashing derring-do. This series remains as fresh as ever."-Publisher's Weekly
"Alexander’s durable heroine returns to Italy in 1903 in a tale of murder, espionage, and hidden treasure...Historical background adds depth to a complex, exciting mystery." -Kirkus Reviews
"Thrilling...Lady Emily and Colin continue to be formidable investigatory partners, and Cécile’s flirtation with a local librarian adds a dash of romance. Alexander brings both early Renaissance and Edwardian-era Florence to life, with well-researched references to Florentine history, literature, and art." -Booklist
I highly recommend buying a copy for yourself. And another one for a friend. And a few more for good measure.

One Down, One to Go
As many of you know I got my first dose of the vaccine yesterday. It was super easy and the vaccination site was incredibly well-organized. Honestly, when the nurse said “Okay, a quick poke”, I was waiting to feel it and was stunned that she was already finished. I literally felt nothing. My arm was a little sore when I went to bed and remains a little sore this morning, but it’s not that bad. I’m thankful to not have worse side effects, as some have had. Like many of you I’ve heard that the second does tends to hit harder. We’ll see. I go back in three weeks.
I hope you are all able to get your vaccines soon, if you haven’t gotten them already. I truly believe it’s the only way through.
