Did any of you have Southwest Airlines completely melting down on your 2022 bingo card? Yeah. Me either. What a fiasco. I made it to Denver fine last Friday, but it did take over an hour for my luggage to arrive. I now realize that was related to the ongoing chaos. A friend who was in Arizona for the holidays had her flight home cancelled, and it was going to be several days later before they could think about rebooking her so she booked a flight home on another airline. My flight home was scheduled for this coming Sunday night, and I has planned to wait a couple of days to see if Southwest got their act together before taking any action, but it seems to be spiraling further into madness so I just cancelled it and booked a flight home for Monday on United. I laughed out loud when Southwest had the nerve to ask for feedback on why I cancelled my trip. Really? I’m sure they’re gonna read all of those comments.
Anyone else out there dealing with this Southwest nightmare? I certainly hope not. If you are, I am so sorry and wish you all the best. This kind of thing is not at all fun.
I have been a Southwest customer forever, and it has been shocking to watch this nightmare unfold. I’ve never had any major issues with them and have always thought their customer service was good. But wow. Learning more about how things have been operating has been eye-opening. I hope Mr. Buttigieg truly does hold them accountable as he’s stated he will. I’m guessing it will be quite a while before things get fully sorted however. They’ve no doubt lost thousands upon thousands of customers at this point and probably thousands of employees. I won’t say I’ll never fly them again because it really is the best option when going from NorCal to SoCal, but still…I’m not gonna be booking anything anytime soon.
Until next time, please enjoy these deer…
you are the first person I thought of when I saw this Southwest mess start to unfold because I know how much you have loved them over the years. I'm glad you were able to get another flight home as I was worried you were going to be stranded in Wyoming (or Denver). Like you, I also hope Secretary Buttigieg is able to hold them accountable and get reimbursements for all the stranded passengers. With all the troubles in the airline industry last summer and Southwest's issues this month, I think we definitely need some new regulations to protect the rights of passengers; maybe they can also do something about the incredibly shrinking seat sizes and lack of leg room. It's scary for me to fly because I risk a DVT every time due to the lack of leg room.
Anyways, enough about the crazy airlines. I am enjoying all your pictures of the wildlife and beautiful scenery. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and have a safe flight home
Glad you were able to get another flight home, to avoid the madness!!
