National What Day Now?
If you read my post yesterday you know it was National French Fry Day. I hope you all found time to partake in the joy of the fried potato. I certainly did. I decided to look online to see what National Day today was, and wow. There are a lot of things happening.
First and foremost, of course, it’s Bastille Day, which is technically the national day of France. The French National Day is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a major event of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération that celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. It’s also the day that Billy the Kid was killed, thus my song of the day, but that’s not a day we consider a National Day of…although I suppose we could.
But did you know? According to the National Today website, July 14 is also…
National Grand Marnier Day
National Mac and Cheese Day
National Nude Day
National Tape Measure Day
Pandemonium Day
Shark Awareness Day
I mean, what do you even do with all that? National Tape Measure Day? I don’t even know.
It’s also, according to that same website, National Break Free from the Big Three Day, which was created by Xfinity to promote their mobile service. I mean really.
I think I’ll just go with it being Shark Awareness Day. That’s not a bad thing, right?
