Song of the day:
Ah, Friday…or, as I’m labeling it today, Long Weekend Eve.
Monday is the day we celebrate and honor Martin Luther King, Jr. and many people across the country have the day off from work, thus the long weekend. Ideally we would take time to reflect on the work of Dr. King and other giants of justice, we might participate in a service project or event, or we might read a book to educate ourselves. But most of us will not do those things; we will sleep in, get some things done around the house, go to a hockey game or a movie, maybe even get a massage. Okay, those are my plans, but I do plan to find time this weekend or on Monday to read or listen to Dr. King’s words, to remind myself of the impact he had on this country, to think about how far from true justice and equality we are, and to think about how I can make a difference in the fight.
#FridayReads
This used to be a regular hashtag on Twitter, designed for people to share what they’re reading and for others to see all those posts. I still see it every now and then but never remember to do it myself. So, I thought I’d add it to my Friday posts and share my reading with you. I’d love to know what you’re reading as well!
