Song of the day:
So I didn’t blog Wednesday and Thursday because I got home late Tuesday and Wednesday night, and even though I stayed up later than I should have both nights I wasn’t focused enough to write anything. So, here we are…let’s see what we missed, shall we?
Wayback Wednesday
Here’s the photo I’d planned to post…in honor of Joe Thornton’s return to San Jose for the first time in two years. Most of you who know me in real life have seen this, especially if you’ve ever seen my phone (it’s my wallpaper). It’s truly one of the coolest photos ever, and I have a signed copy framed and hanging on my living room wall.
The story goes…as a season ticket holder I have access to various events throughout the year, and one of those (until COVID times) has been Meet the Sharks. In this particular season I was unable to attend due to a work conference so my friend Kirsten took another friend. I was at dinner with my boss when this picture came via text, and I pretty much screamed out loud in the restaurant.
First of all, how great is it to have friends who think about you and try to make something like this happen? And second of all, how great was Joe Thornton for holding up the sign for the photo?!
It was one or maybe even two years later when I went to the event again and got him to sign it. He claimed to remember having the photo taken, which may or may not be true, but he was so cool about it and was more than happy to sign it. It’s truly one of the coolest things I own, and I will never be able to thank Kirsten enough.
Thankful Thursday
In these trying times it can be hard to find the good in things…to find things to be thankful for, but if you sit back and think about it, there are so many little things that happen during the day that we take for granted. I’m thankful for a lot of those.
I’m thankful, for example, that even though they had to basically rebuild my laptop when I sent it back a second time for repair (read: the entire hard drive was wiped clean), it still works and I have two backups. And it cost me nothing. I’m extremely thankful for Apple Care.
I’m also thankful for weeknight dinners with friends to celebrate birthdays. There’s nothing like a good meal, good laughter, and surprise birthday dessert.
And finally, I’m thankful for good books like the one I finished last night, The Unsinkable Greta James. It was so, so good. Not sure what’s next on my list so there will be no #FridayReads today. I’ve got a huge to-be-read pile so there are a lot of options to choose from. I’ll see what I feel like when I go downstairs.
And finally, yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day, and since I’m like 3% Irish it’s basically the day of my people. Anyway, it was festive.
Videos of the day:
I seriously want Jumbo to win a cup with Florida. He deserves it. I think they have a shot. The Sharks, on the other hand, do not.
I think that’s all for this week. I hope you have a great weekend!
