Black History Month
On this day in…
1888, legendary painter Horace Pippin was born
1950, legendary basketball player Julius “Dr J” Erving was born
1979, Frank E. Peterson Jr. named the first black general in the Marine Corps
1989, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince won the first rap Grammy for their single “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”
Happy Monday!
I can hardly believe it’s the last week of February and almost a year since the world turned completely upside down. Who would have ever thought…
I think there might be some light appearing at the end of the tunnel, but it’s still a long way off. People are getting vaccines and we have a President taking serious action, but there are still a lot of people not playing by the rules. People are still running around without masks, gathering with large groups of people, not social distancing, and some still claiming the whole thing is a hoax. The fact that half a million people have lost their lives seems pretty real to me.
I’m in Tier IB for vaccination in California because I work in education. I don’t think that means I’m getting a vaccine anytime soon but at least I’m on a list. I think. But it’s not urgent for me to get the vaccine since I’m still working from home and only interact with other people at the grocery store or when picking up food. My parents and their respective spouses have received their first dose of the vaccine now so that makes me feel good.
I hope everyone enjoys this final week of the shortest month of the year. Stay safe and healthy! And Go Spartans!
