Song of the day:
From YouTube: Lifeline is Alicia’s heartfelt ode to the unequivocal comfort emanating from friends, family and community that holds us up as we face life’s challenging moments. I love that! And the song is great. Can’t wait to see this movie.
I returned home yesterday after a little more than a week away, and even though it was great spending time with friends and family, it’s also great to be home. My trip home was mostly uneventful, save for the injury my own backpack inflicted on me. Yeah. At least it looks worse than it feels, but still…ridiculous…
Today is the first work day for 2024, but I’m on vacation for another week so I’ll be skipping that for a few more days. I started taking the first week of January off a few years back - after many years of being in a fight with January…for reasons - and it’s the best thing ever. Having an extra week away from work after the holidays, and after returning home from traveling, is a must. It gives me time to rest and reset, to get the laundry done and put away, to catch up on movies, read, write and more.
I’m hoping to see several movies in the next week including The Color Purple, The Boys in the Boat, and Anyone but You. There are a couple of others I might check out as well, but these are the ones I’ll see first. My mom and I saw Migration last weekend, and it was cute. We also watched Leo on Netflix, which was much better than I expected.
I finished my latest read last night, The Christmas Orphans Club by Becca Freeman. I enjoyed it! In December I also read The Last Phone Booth in Manhattan by Beth Merlin and Never Meant to Stay by Trisha Das. I enjoyed both of these, too! Including the book I finished yesterday, I read 40 books in 2023. Not bad if I do say so myself. I’m not sure what’s next on my list, but there are at least 50 books in this house to choose from. What are you reading right now?
I hope your 2024 is starting off on a good note. Have a great day - even if you have to head back to work!
Video of the day:
I discovered this cream that works really well to clear up bruises more quickly: https://dermend.com/product/moisturizing-bruise-formula-cream/
I had a large bruise on my leg from tripping as I was getting on a CTA bus, and after using this for a few days I could tell it was working.
Happy New Year! Enjoy your time off!
