Woke up this morning with As Long As You Love Me by Backstreet Boys in my head because in my dream I was at some sort of boy band concert with Jake Miller. Because of COURSE Jake Miller and were friends and went to random concerts together. I mean of course.
This boy band concert seemed to be a combination of Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, but none of the band members looked like the actual people in either of those groups. Also, this concert was in a weird venue…something like an old fieldhouse. And I believe we were in New Orleans. Sure. Why not.
We had good seats, right up front, but for some reason after a couple of songs we moved to the row behind us. At one point Jake was singing along and honestly, he sounded better than anyone on the stage, which makes sense to me since I’m a much bigger fan of his music than of either of those two groups. At one point I closed my eyes and leaned back so I could listen more to him than the singers on stage.
Toward the end of the show the band’s VIPs were sitting around an enclosed area shaking maracas along with a song, and I said something like, “Ooo, I want some maracas.” After the song ended the band disappeared down some stairs on the other side of this enclosure they’d been singing in, and a few moments later the VIP fans followed.
One of the VIPs left their maracas at their seat, and Jake snuck over to get them for me. That seems like something he would do in real life. So nice. So I thanked him and put them in my bag but then one of the boy band members was somehow right in front of us and he was mad. He said something like, “You know those don’t belong to you.” He then put his hand out and I reluctantly handed them over. He was seriously mean about it, and Jake and I decided we’d had enough. We got up and walked out of the venue and then I woke up.
And mind you, this whole dream occurred AFTER a dream in which I was being questioned by police about something that happened on campus, and it was almost like I showed up at this concert to hide away from whatever that was.
Y’all…I don’t even know. My brain is WEIRD.
Anyway, here’s a picture from the first time I saw Jake Miller in concert; 2014 @ Slim’s in San Francisco.
Your dreams are more fun than mine!
