Song of the day:
Video of the day:
I don’t know about you but waking up knowing Joe Biden was in the White House made me smile. Honestly, I felt kinda like the puppy in the video above most of yesterday. Everything about the inauguration was patriotic and beautiful and needed. From the seating of the dignitaries to the music to the swearing in of our new President and Vice President…it felt good. And that poem…my goodness…I’m so in awe of Amanda Gorman. If you’ve ever wondered what the phrase Black Excellence meant, that was it. And then those fireworks at the end of the night…I have never seen anything like that. Honestly, I hope inaugural celebrations look like that from here on out. No more stuffy galas and balls. Let’s see America from coast to coast. Let’s continue to celebrate our essential workers and our heroes. Let’s hear the music of this country and celebrate our diversity. And let’s see ALL the fireworks.
Listen, I know our President and Vice President aren’t perfect. No one is. They’ve both done things I don’t agree with, and probably will do things in the next few years I don’t agree with as well. But at least I know they’re governing for ALL of the people, not just the ones who look and act like them. I know they are building a cabinet and administration that looks like America. I know it’s going to be better. It already feels better.
If you were able to watch the inaugural events yesterday, I’d love to know what you thought. What was your favorite moment? What made you feel the most patriotic? When did you finally exhale?
There are so many moments to choose from but the poem was definitely a highlight for me, and not only the phenomenal words of the poet, but the way she so boldly and beautifully delivered them. Chills. I could hardly contain my emotions when Kamala placed her hand on those Bibles and promised to serve this country. That was a moment I’ll never forget. But it was when Joe Biden stepped forward and took his oath that I finally felt like we were going to move forward.
So here’s to today, and tomorrow, and the next four years. There is a lot of work to be done but I am confident that we’re on the right path.
Have a great day!
