Song of the day:
So here we are, on the fourth day of the new year, and we’ve already had a month’s worth of things happen.
First came the horrible incident in New Orleans killing 14 or 15 people and injuring many more. Next came a fireworks accident in Hawaii which killed at least two people. Then we learned of the explosion in Vegas which injured a few and left the driver dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Later that night came a shooting in Queens which thankfully left no one dead but many injured. And then there was the plane crash in Fullerton which killed two people and injured 19. This on the heels of that horrible plane crash in South Korea that left only two survivors. And on and on it goes…
Oh, and there were also those weirdly timed lightning strikes in DC and New York, which never happens but here we are. It’s day four, and I’m already exhausted. This year is going to require a lot of deep breathing (I highly recommend the Calm app) and prayer (no app required!), that’s for sure.
There were a few good things this week, thankfully…like the Sun Devils almost beating Texas in the College Football Playoff. It was awful, then exciting, and then heartbreaking, but after seeing Ohio State destroy Oregon I think I’m actually glad ASU doesn’t have to face that team. Yikes. This was the progression of my emotions before, during and after the game. At one point I let Snuffy wear the devil horns because they absolutely were not working for me. After I made that change ASU started to turn things around and eventually tied the game. So I did not put the horns back on. Alas, it didn’t end how I’d hoped it would.

Also, good for Notre Dame taking down the powerhouse that was Georgia. That was a nice surprise. And hey, the Sharks won their first game of the year! Yay!
Okay, total diversion…
Yesterday I got my eyes dilated and y’all. I hadn’t had that done in a number of years, and it was truly awful. It lasted so much longer than I remember from the last time - like I had it done at 2:30 in the afternoon and was still super-sensitive to light at 10 at night. I hated it. But I looked semi-cool wearing my sunglasses at night, so there’s that.
Okay, I digress…
Not much else happening - as if anything else was needed! We did watch a great documentary on CNN yesterday - Luther: Never Too Much. If you were even a peripheral Luther fan I highly recommend trying to watch this at some point. It was really good. I feel truly lucky that I got to see him perform live twice in the 90s. What a voice.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Have a great weekend, everyone…let’s hope it’s uneventful!
