Song of the day:
Today I’m thankful for short work weeks. I’ve got two of them in a row, and it will probably be hard to work five days a week after that. Thankfully there’s a much bigger break coming in late December, and I’m pretty sure I can power through until then.
Short work weeks can be rough — when you’re trying to get five days worth of work done in three days — but oh that break is nice. I know I’m looking forward to a few days off, as I know many of you are. I know a lot of people took the early part of this week off to start their holidays a bit early, and that’s great. I’m taking some time on the other side of the holiday instead.
Sometimes it’s nice to work during holiday weeks because a lot of people are out and there aren’t nearly as many meetings. I actually had time to get work done during normal work hours yesterday — weird! Sometimes I forget that it’s not normal to always have to work more at night or on the weekends. It’s nice to have the reminder every now and then.
I’m also thankful that I was able to get my final tree decorated last night. I still need to deal with the boxes, but those will have to wait. And there’s a bonus fifth tree this year — actually it’s a tree that stays up all year now. I moved all the ornaments I’ve accumulated over the years from Broadway shows and found a cool tree topper, too. I need to get some kind of music-inspired scarf/tree skirt for it, and was thinking of adding some wired ribbon that looks like sheet music, but for now, it’s the ornaments, and they’re pretty cool. Meanwhile, I have a huge list of shows I’ve seen that either didn’t have an ornament or I didn’t buy one. I’ll be searching for those on Etsy or elsewhere at some point in the future.
Anyway, here are the final trees…never mind me in the mirror…
