Thought for the day:
Last night the majority of the Bay Area went back into a lockdown similar to the one we had in March when all of this started. I think the only difference is that retail stores are allowed to stay open with a reduced capacity. Outdoor dining is cancelled. Travel restrictions continue, meaning if you travel more than 150 miles you have to quarantine upon your return. And basically you’re supposed to stay home. Which honestly, is how I thought it had been since March. I rarely go anywhere other than places involving food or other essential items. The only place I’ve been since March that would be considered non-essential is Hallmark. But y’all know I needed my ornaments and cards. And Hallmark is never that crowded. I’m now getting almost everything delivered or I pick it up curbside. My last Hallmark order was placed online and delivered to my car.
I know many of you have to do more things and go to more places. I hope you’re all taking the proper precautions when you go. I’m pretty sure you are. because you’re good people. I know some of you are essential workers and have been going to work this whole time. Bless you. I count myself among the lucky to be able to work from home. I’ve been to my office two or three times since March and honestly, I hate it. I’m thankful for the option to work from home. I’m thankful for the option to have food delivered. I know not everyone has that option either.
I don’t know when this will all end. Right now it seems like this will just be our life forever. This is how it will be going forward. I know that for many of you this is even harder during the holidays. I don’t always travel during the holidays so for me it’s not that different than other years. But I know this is going to be rough for a whole lot of people, and I feel so bad for those of you who won’t get to do what you usually do this time of year.
I think this pandemic has proven to me that I really am the hermit I always thought I was. Sure, I used to do things and go places and see people, and I liked that life. But I’m just as happy at home doing my own thing. Still, I’m hopeful that by 2022 we can go to games and concerts again, we can meet up for dinner or a movie, we can travel to see friends and family. And yes, I said 2022. Because I honestly don’t think much will change next year. I hope I’m proven wrong.
Wow, this kind of turned into a downer of a post. Sorry about that, but it is Monday after all…please enjoy this video of Tatum the Talking Dog to lift your spirits.
