Song of the day:
A few random thoughts for a Friday…
In case you haven’t heard, Twitter is a hot mess right now (good job, Elon) and may not make it through the weekend. I don’t know how many of you are on it, but I plan to stay until the bitter end. I’ve been there since 2007 I think so I might as well stick it out. I doubt I’ll shift back to Facebook, though I still have an account and do check in occasionally. I created a Discord account for a musician I follow but am rarely there…it feels complicated and overwhelming. I’ve seen a lot of tweets talking about going back to Tumblr which just makes me laugh. I still have several Tumblr accounts but I never considered it to be similar to Twitter. Still, maybe I should reengage. For those who have Twitter, what are you planning to do if it implodes?
Post
I learned about a new social media start up this morning called Post. The creator is the same person who created Waze, which is a great GPS and traffic app. The premise seems interesting and I put myself on the waitlist to get an account. If you want to check it out, use my referral code.
Sharks
I got a little excited about the Sharks lousy season earlier this week when they won three games in a row on the road. But then they got destroyed at home last night so it’s still looking pretty grim for the rest of the season. I sold last night’s tickets - thank goodness - but will be heading to The Tank tomorrow to see them play my second favorite team, the NY Rangers. I can’t imagine we will beat them but who even knows! I do know that we’re getting a cool 49ers mashup t-shirt jersey thing, so that’s fun.
San Francisco
San Francisco and I are becoming BFFs these days. I’ve been up there 3 times this month for events and am heading up again tonight. In fact, I have 3 more events up there (not including tonight) before the end of the year. It’s a lot of driving so I’m trying to take BART when my events are during the day. It takes longer but it does make it easy to get a lot of reading done. Here’s what I’ve seen and what’s coming soon:
Moulin Rouge
Jagged Little Pill
Bono: Stories and Songs
A CS Lewis Christmas (that’s tonight’s fun, and I’m super excited!)
Ain’t Too Proud
Beetlejuice
Frozen
Whew!
And in addition to all that, I’ve got a concert, a handful of Sharks games, a trip with friends to Filoli, and a cool event called Enchant with another friend. Somewhere in between all that I’ve got to write my Christmas letter, address the cards, get the Christmas shopping done, wrap and send the gifts, and pack for my Christmas vacation.
Again I say, Whew!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!!
Looks like a busy but interesting few weeks ahead. Enjoy.
Dave Hughes and I traveled to and from to Rapid City yesterday in a blizzard. I spoke at SD School of Mines CV meeting.
No problem but took a bit longer.
Curious...In a typical year, how many books might you read?
