Video of the day:
Happy Friday!
Is it just me or do the weeks seem to be getting longer? I honestly thought we’d never make it to Friday, and I saw similar sentiments on Twitter this morning. Time is so very weird. But, we did make it so HAPPY FRIDAY!!
If you watched the video above you know that it made me extremely happy. Kelly Clarkson and Chris Martin are two of my favorite artists and to see them singing together on her show earlier this week was an absolute delight. I am going to need them to go ahead and record an album together and then go on tour with said album. That’s one concert I would pay big money to see.
I’ve been thinking a lot about concerts since the start of the pandemic, wondering if I would ever attend one again, and right now, I’m honestly not sure I would. I had tickets to three concerts this summer - that all got rescheduled from last summer - and I got refunds for two of them because I just couldn’t fathom going. The third one was completely cancelled because the band is from Canada, and I’m sure they looked down here and were like, NO. I don’t blame them.
I thought I’d be more disappointed that I didn’t get to see any of these artists live in the last year or so but I wasn’t. At all. Two of them I’d seen before - Green Day w/Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan - more than once, but the other, Harry Styles, would have been a first - at least on his solo tour. I saw his band several times (you may have heard of them…One Direction). But again, I’m completely fine with it. It’s weird that my favorite band, Switchfoot, is touring right now and I don’t have tickets to see them. They’re not coming to the Bay Area for one thing, but I didn’t even think about traveling to see them, as I’ve done on past tours. It still doesn’t seem safe enough to do it from my perspective. Maybe my concert phase of life is over; time will tell.
There are likely a few artists I would go see if they toured near me, but I don’t feel like going out of my way for too many people or groups, and the circumstances would still have to be right. Clearly Kelly Clarkson and Chris Martin (and the rest of Coldplay) are on that list, and if Switchfoot played closer to me I would likely go. I’d probably think about seeing Matt Nathanson and of course, Ed Sheeran. I’d like to do some house shows with my indy artist friends like Todd Carey and Nathan Angelo, so maybe that will come about in the near future. That seems safer than going anywhere else - and I can set my own rules. 😷💉Again, time will tell.
I started a new book last night, The Ride of Her Life, and am loving it so far. It’s a big diversion from what I usually read - non-fiction! - but there’s a horse so you know, I got involved. Also, it’s written by the uber talented Elizabeth Letts who knows all the things about horses and is a fabulous researcher. My mom already read it and absolutely loved it, and let’s face it, you can’t go wrong with The Mother’s recommendation.
I hope to spend a decent amount of time this weekend reading but tonight I’m embarking on another paint night adventure. I’ve come to love those evenings and am getting better at the painting part! Check in next week to see how I do - or check my Instagram or Twitter later tonight where I will no doubt be posting the final product.
Okay…time to get to work. Have a great day everyone and enjoy your weekend!
PS, don’t forget to wear a mask! And get vaccinated if you haven’t already!!
