Song of the day:
Election Eve
Tomorrow is Election Day, and it’s important. I’ve already submitted my ballot and received confirmation that it’s been counted. Have you done the same? I’ve been an absentee voter for as long as I can remember, but I know there are some who don’t have that option. If you are voting in person tomorrow please go early. Please stay in line. Please don’t let anyone intimidate you. There is a lot at stake tomorrow, and while some things on your ballot may not impact you personally, think about your friends, your neighbors, others in your community…think about how your vote impacts them. Above all else, just get out there and VOTE!!
Random and Sundry Updates
It’s been a crazy few weeks, and as you know I haven’t posted since the middle of October. I had a work trip for the first time since January 2020, which was weirdly stressful. I’ve flown a number of times in the last two years but this was different somehow. I think it was the thought of maskless people in meeting rooms that concerned me most. I was one of only a handful of people wearing masks, which was unsettling, but thankfully I remained safe from COVID. I also took a trip to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday - and to see the new place he and Frannie live. I’m pretty sure I was the only person in the entire state of South Dakota wearing a mask. I did get a few looks, but it didn’t bother me. But there were a lot of hours on airplanes and a lot of people not wearing masks on them so that wasn’t my favorite. But still, I stayed safe from COVID.
This past weekend I got to see two musicals in San Francisco - Moulin Rouge and Jagged Little Pill. It was my second time seeing Moulin Rouge and it was just as good the second time around. I didn’t know much about Jagged Little Pill going in, other than that it was Alanis Morissette’s music. It was so, so good. It was intense, emotional, and exceptionally moving. I highly recommend it. And Moulin Rouge, too.
This is a short work week for me - YAY! - as we celebrate and honor our veterans on Friday (aka Veterans Day). It’s also the week we get to return to Wakanda with the much-anticipated release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I can’t wait! I am also super excited to see Bono on Saturday night, as he talks (and sings!) about his new book, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story. So yeah, it’s another busy week, but I think it will be a good one.
