Last night it happened again.
Another mass shooting.
In Virginia.
In America.
Of course in America.
This doesn’t happen in other countries.
At least not every day.
At least seven people who won’t wake up today.
Many more who will wake up changed forever.
This shooter shot himself after destroying the other lives.
We will likely never know the full reason why.
But we know there was a gun.
We can probably guess what kind of gun.
Senators tweeted that they were sickened and heartbroken.
One posted: "I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country."
It sounds good.
It always sounds good.
But then nothing actually happens.
Except more shooting.
More death.
More sadness.
More heartbreak.
More outrage.
More of the same.
How do we get out of this cycle?
How do we affect real change?
How many will forget about this shooting in a week because another will have taken its place?
How many more must die?
Why is this our normal?
Brendan James recorded this TEDx Talk nine years ago…unfortunately, it’s still relevant…
